Location: Ross Alley near Jackson and Stockton Streets.

Artist’s description:
Art, Culture, and Belonging in S.F Chinatown is a community-engaged project. Learn about it in a storefront display at 41 Ross in Ross Alley near Jackson and Stockton Streets. See selected drawings from a "Alive and Present: Cultural Belonging in S.F. Chinatown and Manilatown,” a 56-page comic book based on contributors’ lived experiences. The comic book features three illustrated maps, five personal remembrances of intergenerational love, and several multi-vocal street scenes of favorite activities and locations. The comics are told in the words of 20 real people. The book was conceptualized and drawn by Christine Wong Yap, in a yearlong collaboration with the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco and the Chinatown Arts & Culture Coalition. The 56-page comic book is available in English and Chinese.

While you’re there, pick up a free map to take a self-guided walking tour of 26 places of belonging in San Francisco Chinatown and Manilatown.

41 Ross is an art and community space—a collaboration between the Chinatown Community Development Center and the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.
