Artist’s description:
Fragile is a 30 foot fabric banner suspended from a top-floor window of a building in Greenpoint. It is made from gold, red, and yellow fabric. In this moment of unrest and anxiety, numerous valences of "fragility" have come into the center of the public conversation, from the fragility of the body and health, to the fragility of our economy and social systems, to the fragility of the ego of the president, to fragility associated with those who perceive the loss of their racial and patriarchal power. The banner hangs over an empty lot, where a townhouse was demolished, and construction on new luxury housing has been suspended for nearly two years.
